Chef Gordon Ramsay has shared his experience of a "really bad" cycling accident that left him feeling shaken.
In a video posted to his social media, Ramsay revealed significant purple bruising on his torso, which required hospital treatment. Addressing "all the dads out there" ahead of Father's Day, the star of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares and Hell's Kitchen emphasized the crucial importance of wearing a helmet. "I don't care how short the journey is," he insisted, noting that this advice is even more critical when cycling with children, who must also wear helmets.
"I want to wish you all a happy Father's Day, but please, please, please wear a helmet. If I didn't, honestly, I wouldn't be here now," Ramsay stated. On his Instagram, he also posted before and after photographs showing the extensive damage to his helmet.
Ramsay said the accident occurred earlier this week in Connecticut. The 57-year-old thanked the trauma surgeons and nurses at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for their care. He clarified that he did not "break any bones or suffer any major injuries," but was left "a bit bruised up looking like a purple potato."
"I'm in pain. It's been a brutal week. And I'm sort of getting through it," Ramsay added.
